Coaching Accreditation - Community Golf 1 Coaching Course

Golf coaching can be a very rewarding experience for both the player trying to improve their skills, and the coach assisting in the development of a golfer. Coaches are integral in golf because they often provide the first experience for beginners and are vital in developing golfers of all standards. 

The Community Coaching Course is designed for the beginner/intermediate coach and represents a pathway into the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme. The target group includes schoolteachers, golf club personnel and volunteers, parents and late secondary and tertiary students, interested in developing golf within their community.

The course expands on the basic skills of golf. It also covers the role of the coach, physical and mental preparation, safety, and organisation. Participants are required to undertake a practical assessment during the coaching course to achieve their accreditation.

To attain full accreditation participants need to be or have one of the following:

  • Be a registered teacher
  • Be a current Level 1, 2, or 3 Coach in any Sport
  • Hold a valid Beginning Coaching General Principles Certification prior to attending the Community Coaching Course
  • Be at least 16 years of age

The Australian Sports Commission’s Beginning Coaching General Principles certificate is a free self paced course that takes approximately 6 hours to complete and can be accessed at http://www.ausport.gov.au/participating/coaches/education/onlinecoach

NOTE:

 

If you are not a registered teacher or current Level 1, 2, or 3 Coach in another Sport,you will need to provide a copy of this certificate when signing up to do the Community Golf Coaching 1 Accreditation.

ACCREDITATION:


Successful participants completing the course will be accredited with the Community Golf Coach 1 Certificate. This accreditation runs for a period of 4 years from the day participants complete their course and includes cover for personal liability and professional indemnity through Golf Australia’s insurer Sportscover. 

Golf Queensland will process the accreditations under the Australian Sports Commission’s National Accreditation Coaching Scheme (NCAS) and distribute Community Golf Coaching 1 certificates to successful participant’s within a period of 2 weeks of completing the course.

NOTE: 

During the next 4 years (prior to the date on the Certificate) participants are required toundertake 24 hours of updating, with a minimum of 6 hours per annum to maintain accreditation. Refer to the details provided in the Course materials.

POST COURSE WORK:

No post course is required to get the accreditation. However, in order to retain your accreditation for the 4 years, participants will need to undertake a minimum of 6 hours per annum of updating. Please see the updating sheet for further information.
